IUPAT DC 53 Representatives Complete RC 9 Organizing and Service Training
Our IUPAT DC 53 representatives participated in a three-day training focused on improving organizing and how they serve members. The training was led by Andrew Croll, Michael Kaufmann, and John Penney from IUPAT as part of the union’s efforts under Resolution RC 9.
RC 9 was adopted at the 2024 General Convention to support service reps through better training, improve communication with members, and increase participation in union activities.
DC 53 reps worked on their public speaking skills, practiced one-on-one member outreach, and took part in group discussions about common challenges and how to address them. They also role-played hard conversations, dealing with difficult but important questions with members and contractors.
“This training helped our reps reconnect with what it means to truly serve our members,” said Andrew Croll. “They practiced public speaking, made engagement calls, and had real conversations about challenges we face as a union. It’s about helping members see the value in being part of IUPAT.”
The goal is to ensure that every rep is equipped to build stronger relationships with members and grow involvement at the local level.
