IUPAT DC 53 Hosts Job Corps-Flatwoods Students for Educational Experience at Coatings and Corrosion Expo
IUPAT District Council 53 proudly hosted Job Corps-Flatwoods students from Coeburn, Virginia led by instructor Tim Knapp, at the Coatings and Corrosion Expo.
The visit aimed to introduce students to industrial painting, fostering connections and offering hands-on experiences within the industry.
“We are so proud to host and support job corp students,” IUPAT DC 53 Business Manager Secretary-Treasurer Brian Stanley said. “They are truly an asset to our Union.”
Instructor Tim Knapp saw the expo as an opportunity to broaden his students’ perspectives and to foster connections within the industry.
“I wanted to show my students another side of the industry that we don’t get to see all the time in Job Corps,” Knapp said. “To see if they’re interested in it more. Kind of network a little bit with different people. I think it was really nice. I enjoyed it. Made a few new connections with people and thought it was a good learning experience.”
The expo offered students an engaging opportunity to meet industry professionals, discover new technologies, and explore diverse career paths in the painting sector.
With demonstrations of innovative techniques and discussions on emerging trends, it provided a valuable glimpse into the industry’s dynamics.
